Artists Communicate Through Their Work: Artist may talk through their art to express their feelings; others may just create. In my box piece, we had to pick a certain design to put on the sides of the box, I chose the Mandala which represents a dreamer's search for completeness and self-unity. Being this young, I haven't found myself but I certainly am still looking.
Artists Reflect: While creating the slabs for the sides of the boxes, I noticed that my mandala was too wide for the side to fit perfectly on it so I had to just center the piece and make the best out of it. When we created the tops and bottoms of the box, it was just the right size to fit the design perfectly on it!
Artist Take Risks: Taking risk is the best choice to make in life but also in the art that I have started, Totem Spoon. The totem spoon was not difficult but it was time consuming; I learned that I have to make different objects connected not just by blending the 2 pieces together but to score and slip. The risk I took was trying to just blend it and not do it the correct way; didn't work out the way I planned so I went back and did it properly.
Artist Collaborate: Collaborating with artist can really help with one's art piece, seeing what they are constructing can give you a more broad perspective on what you can do better on your own art creation. Looking at other classmate's pieces made me be more creative and put more personalized pieces on my creation.
